The Riinvest Institute has presented the Baseline Study on the Circular Economy in Kosovo*, prepared within the framework of the POLICY ANSWERS project.
The study underscores the importance of shifting towards a circular economy as a key pathway to sustainable growth. It offers fresh insights into the awareness, engagement, and performance of Kosovar enterprises in resource efficiency and circular business practices.
Key Findings
- Businesses in Kosovo have begun taking initial steps towards resource efficiency, with a strong focus on reducing energy and material consumption.
- Investments in green technologies and recycling activities are still largely financed through companies’ own funds.
- Administrative complexity and the lack of financial incentives remain significant barriers to further progress.
The study recommends concrete measures to:
- Foster innovation and green entrepreneurship,
- Establish green grant and credit schemes, and
- Harmonise policies to accelerate Kosovo’s transition to a circular economy.
