INSIGHT Survey: Making Research Careers More Attractive, Sustainable, and Impactful Across Europe

Research careers are at the heart of Europe’s innovation capacity and societal progress. To strengthen this foundation, the EU-funded INSIGHT project is working to make research careers across Europe more attractive, sustainable, and impactful.

As part of this effort, we invite you to participate in two short surveys designed to gather valuable institutional perspectives and experiences related to researcher careers.

Who Should Participate?

The surveys are intended for professionals involved in institutional activities related to researcher careers, including but not limited to:

  • Human Resources
  • Doctoral education
  • Training and skills development
  • Research management
  • Innovation and industry collaboration
  • Policy development and funding activities

Survey 1: Talent Ecosystem Mapping (5 minutes)

Link: https://insighthorizon.eu/surveyhub/

This survey aims to identify and connect key organisations, such as universities, research centres, companies, public authorities, and innovation actors, that support researchers’ career development. Your contribution will help build a shared European overview of the research talent ecosystem, inform future INSIGHT activities, and enable your institution’s participation in free training programmes.

Survey 2: Charter for Researchers Implementation (15–20 minutes)

Link: https://websites.fraunhofer.de/perszert-dss/index.php/476197

This survey explores how institutions implement the principles of the European Charter for Researchers in practice. Your feedback will help identify strengths, gaps, and concrete measures needed to improve researchers’ working conditions and career development across Europe.

Benefits of Participation

By taking part in the surveys, you will:

  • Receive invitations to future online and in-person workshops and training activities focused on institutional attractiveness and researcher employability
  • Contribute institutional insights that directly inform project actions and policy recommendations
  • Be consulted in follow-up activities related to training needs, policy implementation, and good practices under the Charter for Researchers
  • Ensure your organisation is visible and actively engaged in shaping Europe’s research talent ecosystem

Participation is voluntary and confidential, and all responses will be used exclusively for research purposes. While individual data will remain protected, aggregated results will inform project outputs and European-level policy discussions.

Deadline for Participation

Please complete the surveys by 15 February 2026.
