TiCCA4DANU (Transformative Innovation for Climate Change Adaptation in the Danube Region) is a Horizon Europe-funded research and innovation project running from 2025 to 2028. It aims to help European city-regions in the Danube Macro-Region become more resilient and just in adapting to climate change through a novel, systemic innovation policy framework.
Central to the project is the concept of Transformative Innovation Policy (TIP), which promotes a system-level change in how public policy supports innovation and social transformation. TiCCA4DANU links TIP with Local Green Deals, collaborative local initiatives for sustainable transition, to produce inclusive, participatory approaches that involve public authorities, vulnerable groups and the private sector.
The TICCA4Danube Flagship project adopts the S3 methodology in Horizon Europe project.
Expected outputs include toolkits, governance models, capacity building modules and practical frameworks that can help cities and regions accelerate just climate change adaptation in ways that are inclusive, equitable and systemic.
