Description of the programme / policy

Doctoral education in structured PhD programmes are an essential part of the qualification process of young academics in Europe and Germany. High quality standards regarding the selection and hosting of doctoral students, as well as an international research environment, create unique perspectives particularly for foreign applicants.

Main objective of the programme/policy

The main programme objective is to increase the number of international doctoral students from developing and emerging countries in structured doctoral programmes in Germany, and to support doctoral programmes in the wider context of building international collaboration research networks.

Specific objective of the programme/policy

Main objective of the programme is to raise numbers of international graduates and postdocs from Countries of Emerging Economies (and of Developing Countries), using structued programmes in Germany which will lead to graduating from university with a doctoral thesis.
