Description of the programme / policy
SSEES offers a wide range of language courses for students and members of the public who wish to learn or improve their knowledge of the languages spoken in Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe, as well as Russia and Eurasia. Courses are taught at various levels, from beginners to advanced, and can be taken on a full-time or part-time basis.
Main objective of the programme/policy
The aim is for the courses to equip students to communicate confidently in their chosen language, where skills such as reading, writing, listening, and speaking will be studied – with a special emphasis on oral expression.
Specific objective of the programme/policy
The specific aim of learning one of the languages of this region is not only to enhance communication skills but to understand the diverse cultures of Central and Eastern Europe and to appreciate different patterns of life in various parts of Europe. Additionally, it enables flexible transitions between languages and cultural contexts.
