European Molecular Biology Laboratory Calls for Input to the ‘Discover Your World: Molecular Wonders of Nature’ Science-Art Project

A new science-art project, entitled “Discover Your World: Molecular Wonders of Nature”, has recently been launched by the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL). The project aims to encourage young people to contemplate the beauty of molecular structures, discover their significant roles as proteins in human bodies and nature, and create works of art inspired by the knowledge gained. This initiative marks the first time EMBL has launched such an educational initiative.

The project targets young people aged 14 to 18 from across Europe, who can submit their artwork for a chance to win one of the prizes worth 100 EUR. Participation is open to any young person with support from a school, youth group, or other institution.

Educational materials and tutorials are available through the website, where artworks are also submitted. Participants can utilise these resources in classrooms or independently. Throughout May, June, and July, a series of video tutorials will be accessible via the Zoom platform.

The deadline for submitting works is 18 October 2024. All works will feature in an online gallery, with selected pieces showcased in a special exhibition at EMBL in Heidelberg, Germany, during autumn/winter 2024.
