EU program strengthens employment models in 19 Albanian municipalities
The European Union has launched the new project “EU for Inclusion in the Labor Market” (EU4LMI) in Albania. This project, funded by the EU and implemented by UNDP in collaboration with the Swedish Public Employment Service and the Albanian Foundation for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, aims to create a more inclusive society.
The EU4LMI initiative focuses on fostering integrated approaches to enhance labor market resilience by combining skills development, employment promotion, and social care, while engaging all regional and local labor market stakeholders.
During the project launch, the parties presented the initiative and discussed its potential contributions to Albania’s efforts towards inclusivity.
“EU for Labor Market Inclusion” seeks to strengthen inclusive and active employment and skills models in 19 target municipalities: Prrenjas, Gjirokastra, Vora, Mallakastra, Cërrik, Librazhd, Shijak, Kavaja, Kurbin, Kukës, Kruja, Pogradec, Korça, Kamza, Vlora, Shkodra, Elbasan, Durrës, and Tirana. The project will scale up active labor market and skills development programs in these areas.
The initiative aims to address the challenges faced by vulnerable groups, particularly welfare recipients, NEETs (people not in education, employment, or training), people with disabilities (PWDs), and young mothers not included in employment.
This project aligns with Albania’s ongoing reforms in economic, employment, and skills development policies, as well as the country’s efforts toward EU integration.
