UNESCO and the Verlab Institute in Bosnia and Herzegovina invite you to apply for an exciting opportunity to access cutting-edge High-Performance Computing (HPC) resources and expert mentorship – all remotely!
In line with the UNESCO Recommendation on Open Science and the UNESCO Remote Access to Lab Equipment (UNESRALE) Initiative, this virtual capacity-building programme is designed to empower emerging talent to turn their scientific ideas into impactful, entrepreneurial ventures.
Through a combination of:
- Remote access to an HPC sandbox environment
- Individualised mentorship
- Specialised innovation training
Participants will explore innovation in the following areas:
- Artificial Intelligence in healthcare and diagnostics
- Simulation and modelling in biomedical sciences
- Data science in environmental and public health
- Neuroscience, epigenetics, and computational biology
- Digital health and e-health innovation
Support includes HPC-based simulations, AI model training, signal processing, and more.
Who Can Apply?
Eligible applicants include:
- MSc and PhD students
- Postdoctoral researchers
- Junior faculty (within 5 years of PhD)
- Young researchers up to 35 years old
Applicants must:
- Have a clearly defined research project or innovative idea
- Be proficient in English
- Show motivation to explore entrepreneurship and computational tools in their field
The programme is open to candidates from South-East Europe (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia) and all African countries. Selection will be based on merit and diversity.
