The Regional Cooperation Council is inviting creative minds to apply for the 4th Regional Butterfly Innovation Award for innovative, scalable, and market-based solutions from the Western Balkans.
The Award aims to support the Western Balkans’ economic development by embracing digital transformation and fostering environmental sustainability.
The purpose of the Butterfly Innovation Award is to promote innovation culture in the Western Balkans through showcasing successful innovative achievements and empowering sensitive groups such as youth and women.
The RCC welcomes applications from innovation teams/individuals from the region for the six award categories, showcasing practicality, impact, and scalability: Industry Innovation Award, Green Innovation Award, STEM Innovation Award, Youth Innovation Award, University Innovation Award, Women Innovation Award.
Deadline to apply: 8 October 2025.
Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents from the Western Balkans. Applicants must be individuals or teams where the majority of members are under 35 years old (average age per team must not exceed 35 years).
Nominations are accepted from individual innovators or innovative teams and the nominating partners from the Western Balkans including public institutions, business associations, research organisations and civil society organisations. Nominating partners are encouraged to nominate only innovative teams or individuals that satisfy all of the selection criteria. The nominated innovations must demonstrate an active impact in the Western Balkans. Special consideration will be given to projects that address current societal challenges or have the potential for significant positive change,
