Call for Fellowship Applications for the Regional Network of Centers for Advanced Studies in Southeast Europe (RECAS)

Call for Fellowship Applications for the Regional Network of Centers for Advanced Studies in Southeast Europe (RECAS) is open. This is a unique opportunity for scholars focused on addressing key socio-economic, political, and environmental challenges in Southeast Europe.

This year’s theme, “Change in the Balkans – Strategic Interventions for Democratic Europe,” encourages researchers to engage in action-oriented studies on issues like demographic shifts, economic instability, digital transformation, and the green transition. The goal is to develop strategic solutions that enhance democratic resilience, economic sustainability, and social cohesion in the region.

Fellows will be hosted by leading academic institutions across Southeast Europe, including universities in Rijeka, Belgrade, Skopje, Sarajevo, Ljubljana, Prishtina, Tirana, and Podgorica. Over 4 to 6 months, they will conduct in-depth research, collaborate with regional and international experts, and contribute to knowledge that fosters sustainable change in the Balkans.

Publication of the final selections → November 15, 2024

Expecting start of the Fellowship → December 15, 2024

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. obtained a maximum of 5 years prior to the call deadline or be PhD candidate in later stage of their studies.

Applicants are expected to be able to communicate fluently in English as this is the working language of the Fellowship.

Researchers from all countries are eligible to apply for the program, providing they work in the theme of the call.

The program is open to all disciplines in the fields of humanities, social sciences, and arts.
