Funding for Innovative Cross-border Media Literacy

The CREA-CROSS-2026-MEDIALITERACY call is launched under the Cross-sectoral strand of the Creative Europe Programme and aims to support innovative, cross-border media literacy projects across Europe. The call addresses the growing challenges posed by a rapidly evolving digital media environment, including the spread of disinformation, information manipulation, and unequal access to media literacy skills among different population groups.

The call encourages collaborative projects that bring together actors from culture, media, education, civil society, research, and the creative sectors to strengthen citizens’ ability to critically assess media content, understand how information is produced and disseminated, and engage responsibly in digital and democratic spaces. Particular attention is given to projects that respond to the needs of specific or vulnerable target groups, including people with limited media literacy skills or access to quality information.

Supported actions should aim to develop, test, or scale up media literacy tools, methods, and initiatives that can be transferred across national, cultural, and linguistic borders. Projects are expected to build on existing best practices, adapt to changing media consumption patterns and formats, and contribute to societal resilience, civic participation, and democratic integrity.

The call has a total indicative budget of €3 million for 2026 and follows a single-stage application procedure. Proposals can be submitted from 23 October 2025, with a deadline of 11 March 2026 (17:00 Brussels time). Successful projects will be selected following an evaluation process running until mid-2026, with grant agreements expected to be signed by the end of the year.
