Capacity building activities in Serbia – presentation video

POLICY ANSWERS strengthened research and innovation policy capacity in Serbia, focusing on skills, evidence and long-term impact. Implemented by the Institute Mihajlo Pupin, the programme was launched at a critical moment — when digital transformation had become an urgent national priority — and scaled rapidly to reach every major region of the country.

A targeted and practical capacity building programme on digital transformation and the green transition reached more than 250 participants across all five major regions of Serbia, the first initiative of this scale in the country. Strong synergies were built with business networks, chambers of commerce and innovation hubs. Through extended reach via the Western Balkans Info Hub YouTube channel and local TV networks, more than 300 entrepreneurs, professionals and stakeholders were trained in total. Specialised training on monitoring and evaluation further reinforced evidence-based policy making.

Sanja Damjanovic, from the Institute Mihajlo Pupin, reflected on the timing and reach of the programme:

«We launched this program at exactly the right time. We were focused on digital transformation, and we all can remember that it was a must just in that period of time.»

«We were the first in Serbia to organise a series of trainings on such a large scale, covering entire Serbia, all five major regions. And this is why we raised great interest and had more than 250 participants.»

«This adaptability approach helped us meet immediately the needs that emerged.»
