Converge2EU Dashboard

The initiative converge2.eu is designed to monitor and support the socio-economic, institutional and living-standards convergence of the six Western Balkan economies towards the living-standards of the European Union (EU). It goes beyond the formal accession criteria, focusing instead on how people live in these countries and how that compares with citizens in the EU.

The project aims at collecting high-quality, comparable data, and linking that to policy recommendations. The dedicated dashboard allows users to track performance across eight areas of life: economy, social affairs, health, education, environment, governance, digitalisation, infrastructure. The project also publishes annual reports, scenario analyses, and national policy-recommendation documents aiming to translate the data into reform priorities. The availability of a downloadable and comparable database enables further academic analysis.

The project is coordinated by the Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies (wiiw, Austria) and Think Europe (Slovenia). Implementation is undertaken in partnership with the Centre for Policy and Governance in Bosnia and Herzegovina; Riinvest Institute in Kosovo; Institut Alternativa in Montenegro; ZMAI in North Macedonia; Institute for Development and Innovation in Serbia. Support is provided by the Open Society Foundation – Western Balkans.
