The Joint Research Centre (JRC) has published the Urban PM2.5 Atlas, providing a comprehensive assessment of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) concentrations in cities across countries involved in the EU Enlargement policy.
The atlas analyses the spatial distribution of PM2.5 pollution and quantifies sectoral source contributions, including residential heating, transport, industry and agriculture. By identifying the main emission drivers at city level, the publication supports targeted air quality policy design and implementation.
The findings contribute to the objectives of the EU Zero Pollution Action Plan and support alignment with EU air quality standards across the Enlargement region.
