Euratom implements research and training activities in the nuclear sector. It was set up in 1957 and is legally separated from the European Community (EC). It has its own Framework Research Programme, complementary to Horizon Europe, also managed by the EC and using the same instruments and rules for participation as Horizon Europe. Direct actions are activities undertaken by the Commission’s Joint Research Centre. Indirect actions are research activities undertaken by multi-partner consortia.
