Pravu u Metu (Right on target)

15 September 2024 - 14 May 2025

This Erasmus+ project, led by the sports club Streljački klub “SFS Borac” from Paraćin, Serbia, focuses on modernising sports shooting practices and addressing challenges related to membership retention and promotion. The project was developed to tackle geographical remoteness and involve rural areas, while providing continuous training for sport staff by addressing also digital content, technologies and practices. The project started is ongoing and lasts until May 2025.

Context:
In sports shooting, electronic targets and optical training systems are becoming common. However, coaches and volunteers lack advanced training to use these tools effectively in beginner training and event management. Improved use of such systems would enhance safety, reduce ammunition and target waste, and make the sport more engaging. The club also struggles with member retention due to financial and organisational issues, with many members coming from rural or socially disadvantaged backgrounds. Annually, one-third of members leave the club, and promotional and cooperative efforts with local entities are limited.

Objectives:

  1. Membership Retention: Strengthen ties with private companies, local government, and NGOs to support members with reduced opportunities and address dropout rates.
  2. Modernisation of Training: Equip sports workers with skills to use digital systems like electronic targets and SCATT training tools to improve beginner training, safety, and sustainability.
  3. Capacity Building: Boost the club’s visibility through social media and other platforms to promote events, encourage participation, and highlight sports’ role in promoting healthy lifestyles and European values.

Main Activity:
The project includes a visit to the Ujpesti Torna Egyle association in Budapest, where participants will:

  • Assist and observe beginner training using digital systems (2–3 sessions weekly).
  • Work on improving safety and reducing environmental impacts of used ammunition.
  • Engage with host staff to learn about promotional strategies and partnerships with NGOs and local government.
  • Formalise a cooperation agreement between the two clubs.

Expected Outcomes:

  • Coaches will be better equipped to use digital training systems, enabling safer, more engaging learning with less environmental impact.
  • Enhanced promotional efforts and collaborations will help attract and retain members, especially children from rural areas.
  • The club will foster healthier lifestyles and community engagement through its activities.

This initiative aims to modernise sports shooting practices, promote inclusivity, and ensure long-term sustainability for the club and its members.
