In May 2025, the COST Committee of Senior Officials (CSO) approved 70 new Actions which will start in September and October: https://www.cost.eu/70-new-cost-actions-oc20241/. The success rate for applications in this Open Call (OC-2024-1) was 8.3%.
The Western Balkans Info Hub wants to particularly congratulate the five successful main proposers from the Western Balkans: 5 out of the 70 successful actions are coordinated by researchers from the region!

- CA24117 Innate lymphoid cells – the European quest for innovative cancer prognosis and immunotherapy (Main proposer from Serbia)
- CA24156 Seed Priming Solutions: Boosting Crop Resilience for a Sustainable Future (Main proposer from Bosnia and Herzegovina)
- CA24165 Network for Cardiovascular Pharmacogenomics and Precision Medicine (Main proposer from Bosnia and Herzegovina)
- CA24167 Disruptive Innovation and Exponential HRM: Crafting Next-Gen Employee Experience, Workplace, Job Market (Main proposer from Albania)
Even if researchers and stakeholders from the Western Balkans are not yet participating in all the Actions as proposers, they can now join.
On Thursday 12 June 2025 these new COST Actions, including all Memorandum’s of Understanding, are available on the COST website so if our readers see a network that is of interest then they can apply to join.

The official kick-off, the first Management Committee meeting, of these research networks will take place between September and November 2025.

n.b. Researchers from Kosovo participate in COST Actions as Near Neighbourhood Country and are thus not listed in these statistics focusing on the COST countries. Kosovars are included in 5 out of the 70 successful actions as co-proposers.
The 70 new COST Actions cover topics as wide and varied as gastrointestinal cancers, seed priming to boost crop resilience, science diplomacy, cultural heritage conservation, processing food waste into sustainable fibers, and comics for science.
