Austria–Albania Partnership Boosts Scientific and Technological Exchange

Albania is an active partner in Austria’s Scientific & Technological Cooperation (S&T Cooperation) programme, which is based on inter-governmental agreements and memoranda of understanding. The programme fosters international research collaboration by supporting joint bilateral projects between Austrian higher education and research institutions and partner countries, including Albania.

Calls for proposals are launched regularly, with the next call for Albania planned for autumn 2025 for projects running from 2026 to 2028. Funding is primarily available for travel, accommodation, and project-related material costs (up to EUR 3,000 per project for the two-year period).

The S&T Cooperation programme aims to stimulate international collaboration, build sustainable partnerships, and increase the involvement of young and female researchers in global consortia. Eligible applicants include researchers from universities, universities of applied sciences, and non-university research institutions in the field of basic research.

Through this partnership, Albania strengthens its integration into European and international research networks, contributing to knowledge exchange and scientific development.
