France and North Macedonia maintain a dynamic partnership in cultural, scientific, and technical fields, designed to foster closer ties between the two countries and support North Macedonia’s path towards the European Union.
The cooperation agreement between the two states prioritises strengthening the rule of law and good governance, training of future leaders, and promoting French language and culture. These areas are considered essential in supporting North Macedonia’s institutional development and European integration process.
French cultural and linguistic presence in the country is anchored by the Institut Français in Skopje, established in 1974, and complemented by Alliance Française branches in Bitola and Tetovo. These institutions serve as key platforms for French language instruction, cultural exchange, and academic collaboration.
In addition to cultural initiatives, cooperation extends to scientific and technical collaboration, including joint training programmes, knowledge-sharing, and capacity-building efforts across various fields. Such activities not only promote innovation and education but also encourage stronger people-to-people connections between the two nations.
