The University of Banja Luka supports the principles that underlie Š˛pen science, which apply to the entire process of producing scientific and artistic results, from securing funding and meeting funder requirements (e.g., within the Horizon 2020 program) to depositing scientific papers, applying research results in practice, and monitoring the impact of scientific work. The principles of openness aim to make science more transparent, visible, efficient, fair, and democratic.
Thanks to the implementation of the WBC-RRI.NET project, a Digital repository of the University of Banja Luka – PUB was developed in 2023. It represents a registry that collects, stores, and provides open access to the scientific research and creative output of its members, i.e., academic staff, researchers, and students of the University of Banja Luka. This repository stores scientific and professional papers, final papers of students in the second and third study cycles, preprints, books, journals, and other materials in various formats.
In previous years, the University of Banja Luka established a digital repository of scientific papers called “Sova” in 2021, which serves as a central place for storing various categories of scientific papers in digital format. This increases their visibility and accessibility to the wider academic community, as well as provides permanent protection against loss. In this repository, papers are categorized as teaching publications, scientific monographs, scientific articles, articles published in journals with an impact factor, proceedings, catalogs, and other publications and journals.
In addition to these two repositories, the University also has the “E-theses” repository, which is intended for searching and downloading doctoral dissertations from the local repository and the mutual database of doctoral dissertations of the University of Banja Luka. The local and mutual repositories of doctoral dissertations are integral parts of the PHAIDRA digital repositories, where scientific and professional papers of the University of Banja Luka’s teaching staff and associates are indexed and archived. Following the policy of copyright protection, the repositories contain dissertations that have signed statements allowing the university to include the dissertation in the digital repository under certain licensing conditions. Dissertations can be searched in the “E-theses” system or within the university’s PHAIDRA repository.
