Erasmus+ 2025 Call for Proposals: €5 Billion to Promote Cooperation and Mobility

The European Commission has launched the 2025 Erasmus+ Call for Proposals, offering nearly €5 billion in funding to support learning mobility and cooperation in the fields of Education, Training, Youth, and Sport. This new call continues the programme’s expansion, responding to increasing demand and promoting greater inclusion, particularly for individuals with fewer opportunities.

Since its launch in 1987, Erasmus+ has reached over 16 million participants, and its popularity continues to grow. The programme aligns with the “Europe on the move” recommendation, which aims to boost mobility and participation, especially for underrepresented groups. Erasmus+ also supports various cooperation models and plays a key role in advancing the European Degree Framework, helping to recognize cross-border qualifications and strengthen higher education partnerships.

In 2025, Erasmus+ will continue to support the Ukrainian education system, aiding students and educators in Ukraine or those who have sought refuge in the EU. The programme remains focused on promoting social inclusion, green and digital transitions, and youth participation in democratic life.

European officials have emphasised Erasmus+’s role in fostering core European values like solidarity, democracy, and human rights, which have empowered millions of participants over the years. Erasmus+ is set to remain central in building a more cohesive and future-oriented Europe.

Background

Any public or private body active in the fields of education, training, youth or sport can apply for funding, either via Erasmus+ National Agencies (in all EU Member States and countries associated to the programme) or the European Education and Culture Executive Agency. The total budget available for Erasmus+ from 2021 to 2027 was set to €26.2 billion, complemented with some €2.2 billion from EU’s external instruments. Today’s call for proposals under the Erasmus+ call for 2025 follow the adoption of the 2025 work programme for the implementation of Erasmus+.
