The fourth EU–Montenegro Horizon Europe Joint Research and Innovation Committee meeting took place in Brussels, co-chaired by Anne Haglund-Morrissey (European Commission) and Marko Vukašinović (Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, Montenegro).
The EU highlighted new policy priorities, including startups, innovation, and knowledge valorisation, as part of the upcoming EU Startup and Scaleup Strategy and ERA and Innovation Acts. Montenegro presented recent R&I developments, including a new research law, national strategies, and funding measures to support Horizon Europe participation.
Discussions focused on improving Montenegrin engagement in Horizon Europe, especially WIDERA and European Partnerships, as well as the country’s role as a Mission city. Progress by the Innovation Fund, Smart Specialisation Strategy, and EIT activities in Montenegro were also welcomed by both sides.
