The European Commission’s Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety has invited Bosnia and Herzegovina to take part in the Health Union Fellowship training programme, one of the key capacity-building initiatives implemented under the EU4Health Programme.
An information session was held on 4 September 2025 via Zoom, with representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Ministry of Civil Affairs in attendance, where details of the programme and opportunities for potential candidates were presented.
The Health Union Fellowship is designed for health professionals to deepen their knowledge of EU health policy, exchange experiences, strengthen cooperation and build sustainable networks. Rooted in the European Commission’s vision of a stronger, healthier Union, the programme provides practice-oriented training delivered by public health experts from across Europe, equipping participants with knowledge, insights and tools for creating a healthier and more connected future.
The programme combines in-person and online training sessions focused on EU health policy priorities, such as digital health, prevention, pharmaceutical legislation and health security, and also offers a range of networking opportunities. Fellows will additionally be able to attend the European Health Policy Conference and a closing forum bringing together senior health policy experts.
The Fellowship is primarily aimed at mid-level professionals from health ministries and other public administrations at national, regional or local level involved in health policy.
Launched in early 2025, the Health Union Fellowship has now been extended to countries associated with the EU4Health Programme, including Bosnia and Herzegovina, in order to further strengthen diversity and accessibility within the community.
