On 1-2 November 2024, the 17th ENSE Forum unfolded at the Sports University of Tirana in Albania, bringing together academics, practitioners, and students under the theme “Bridging Borders through Sport Education: The Euro-Balkan-Med Perspective.”
The Forum served as a vibrant platform for dialogue, focusing on the transformative role of sport in uniting communities and addressing sociocultural challenges across Europe, the Balkans, and the Mediterranean. Attendees explored how sport education can promote inclusivity, integration, and a stronger sense of community in the face of contemporary challenges.
The event featured dynamic parallel sessions where presenters shared their research and initiatives. These sessions showcased innovative approaches to using sport as a tool for social inclusion, human rights advocacy, sustainable development, and dual-career education.
One of the Forum’s highlights was the diversity of topics covered, including:
- Sport Education for Social Inclusion and Gender Equality: Examining how sports can break barriers and foster equality.
- Sport Diplomacy and Human Rights: Exploring the role of sports in promoting peace and international cooperation.
- Innovation in Coach and PE Teacher Training: Sharing advancements in professional education for the next generation of sport educators.
The accepted abstracts from the Forum will be published in a special issue of the Journal of Physical Activity and Sports (JPAS), ensuring the dissemination of these valuable contributions. The Forum reinforced the importance of regional collaboration and knowledge exchange, setting the stage for future initiatives that harness the power of sport education to address global challenges.
