Green public transport in Tirana is expected to be ready by the end of 2029. The Activities Commission approved the agreement with KFW to finance this €50 million project.
Deputy Mayor of Tirana, Jonida Halili, emphasized that the use of electric buses will significantly reduce waiting times for citizens at stations. The project envisions a rapid transit system using electric buses on three routes: Unaza, Tirana e Re, and Kombinat-Kinostudio.
The project is expected to significantly reduce environmental pollution and CO2 emissions.
The total funding for this project is €110 million. The German government will support the project with €50 million, a grant of €31.2 million has been allocated by the Western Balkans Investment Fund, and the Municipality of Tirana will invest €29.17 million.
