Hungary and Kosovo Strengthen Ties at Second Joint Economic Commission Session

The second session of Hungary and Kosovo* Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation (JCEC) took place in Budapest on 1–2 February 2023, co-chaired by Péter Sztáray, Hungarian State Secretary for Security Policy and Energy Security, and Rozeta Hajdari, Kosovo’s Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade.

Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in key sectors including economic development, agriculture, environmental protection, tourism, education, and science and technology. Both sides welcomed the growth of bilateral trade, which has nearly tripled since 2015, and highlighted agriculture and education as priority areas for collaboration. The Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship programme, celebrating its 10th anniversary, remains highly popular among students from Kosovo.

The session concluded with the signing of a protocol by the Co-Chairs and a memorandum of understanding between the University of Pannonia and the University of Pristina. A parallel business forum, organised by HEPA and KIESA, also facilitated closer cooperation between Hungarian and Kosovar companies. The next JCEC session will be hosted in Pristina.
