The Football Association of Montenegro (FSCG) has unveiled a new four-year grassroots football strategy, supported by UEFA’s HatTrick programme, to promote football among boys and girls aged 8–14. The initiative prioritises enjoyment, inclusivity, and development over competition, aiming to nurture a love for the game and develop talent in a supportive environment.
The strategy was launched with a football festival, “Djetić igra” (The Kids Play) and “Djetić zabava” (The Kids Fun), held across four cities on 12–13 October, attracting 2,500 young players from 52 clubs. Coaches and participants praised the event’s focus on joy and skill-building rather than results.
The initiative aligns with UEFA’s Grassroots Charter and Football in Schools programme, aiming to make football more accessible while expanding participation. FSCG hopes to engage 20,000 young players by the project’s conclusion, paving the way for a brighter future for football in Montenegro.
