POLICY ANSWERS two-day event “Open Science and Intellectual Property Protection” sucessfully held

A two-day event titled Open Science and Intellectual Property Protection, organised by POLICY ANSWERS, took place on 24–25 October 2024 at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Banja Luka. The event welcomed over 40 participants, offering a rich programme focused on open science, intellectual property, and the commercialisation of research findings.

The first day featured a panel discussion, The Thin Line Between Open Science and Protection in the Open Invention Market, moderated by Siniša Marčić from the Regional Cooperation Council. Esteemed experts in the field of open science engaged in an insightful exchange of views. Additionally, Neven Tamarut from the Science and Technology Park at the University of Rijeka delivered a training session on recognising the licensing and patenting potential of scientific discoveries.

Day two comprised two interactive workshops. The first, Commercialisation of Intellectual Property, was led by Bojan Ćudić from the Digital Innovation Hub ONEX. The second, Application of Open Science Principles in Practice Across Scientific Disciplines, was facilitated by Biljana Kosanović from the University of Belgrade and Milica Ševkušić from the Institute of Technical Sciences at the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts.

Throughout the event, participants explored key concepts in open science and intellectual property, with practical exercises to reinforce their learning. The event exemplified POLICY ANSWERS’ commitment to fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange in research and innovation across Europe.
