POLICY ANSWERS Fellowship: NASRI Representative Explores Strategic R&I Collaboration in Austria

Imirjon Peza, a representative of Albania’s National Agency of Scientific Research and Innovation (NASRI), recently completed a week-long fellowship at Austria’s Research Promotion Agency (FFG) under the mentorship of Emmanuel Glenck.

The fellowship aimed to deepen institutional collaboration between NASRI and FFG through networking, knowledge exchange, and participation in training and strategic meetings. Key engagements included discussions with Austrian NCPs for WIDERA, Cluster 3, and Eureka, as well as meetings with ZSI and the Austrian Ministry for Women, Science and Research (BMBWF).

A highlight was participation in FFG’s live training on MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships and attendance at the agency’s annual Frühlingsfest, enabling informal exchanges with R&I stakeholders.

The fellowship also yielded strategic recommendations for NASRI and Albanian institutions to boost their participation in Horizon Europe. These include leveraging existing networks, identifying strong coordinators, and modernising internal procedures for project engagement and dissemination.

The experience marks another step toward stronger Austrian–Albanian cooperation and reflects a shared commitment to inclusive and impactful research across Europe. Please find below the fellowship report:
