Radio Television of Montenegro Opens Regional Studio in Nikšić

Montenegro’s national broadcaster, RTCG, has opened a new regional studio in Nikšić, marking a key step in its effort to decentralize media coverage beyond the capital, Podgorica.

At the opening, President Jakov Milatović welcomed the move as a clear message that public service media belongs to the entire country. RTCG Director-General Boris Raonić noted the studio addresses key challenges such as centralization of population and media, and affirmed plans to open new studios in Boka and Ulcinj, the latter funded by the EU through the “Innovation. Media. Minds” programme.

EU Ambassador Johan Satler and IMM Regional Team Leader Georgia Trismpioti highlighted the studio’s wider role in promoting media literacy, mentorship, and community connection. Along with a new facility in Bijelo Polje, the Nikšić studio will strengthen coverage of Montenegro’s northern regions and contribute to a more inclusive media landscape.
