WellscanPro from Kosovo, Winners of the Western Balkans Special Award

Cem Struja, a 30-year-old construction engineer from Prizren, is making waves far beyond his field of study. Driven by a passion for solving real-world problems, he co-founded WellScanPro — an AI-powered health tech startup that allows users to analyse urine test strips from home in under two minutes.

This innovative tool not only reduces the cost and hassle of lab visits, but also enables remote consultations with healthcare professionals, improving access to diagnostics across rural and underserved areas.

Backed by a skilled team and support from Makerspace Innovation Center Prizren, GIZ Kosovo, and the Municipality of Prizren, WellScanPro has earned international recognition. It won at ViennaUp in Austria and took second place in the health category of the EIT Jumpstarter in Budapest. The team was also awarded “Best Team from the Western Balkans”.

Cem and his team plan to launch WellScanPro in Kosovo in early 2025, with a broader mission: to donate 10% of their annual profits in diagnostic kits to countries lacking lab infrastructure.

“Our goal is to make healthcare more accessible, affordable and equitable,” said Cem. “We want to inspire young innovators in Kosovo and beyond to follow their ideas – because innovation knows no borders.”
