Western Balkans Innovation Efforts Highlighted at AI Conference in Belgrade

The conference “Innovations in the Era of Artificial Intelligence – The Perspective of Serbia”, held at the Palace of Science, brought together leading experts to explore the intersection of intellectual property, artificial intelligence, and innovation. The event was organised by the Serbian Office for Intellectual Property, the European Patent Office, and the Institute for Artificial Intelligence in Serbia.

Among the speakers was Sanja Popović Pantic, who was invited to present on capacity-building activities in research and innovation across the Western Balkans, as part of the Horizon Europe project POLICY ANSWERS. The project is implemented by a consortium that includes the Institute Mihajlo Pupin, with the Science and Technology Policy Research Center leading the Capacity Building Programme Work Package.

In her presentation, Sanja Popović Pantic introduced the WB Regional Innovation Academy, an open online platform offering structured content on innovation-related topics. The platform covers areas such as Innovation Basics, Managing Innovation, Funding Innovation, and Success Stories, and aims to support knowledge sharing and capacity development throughout the region.

The session generated strong interest among researchers and innovation professionals attending the conference, highlighting a growing demand for regional cooperation and knowledge exchange in the field of innovation and emerging technologies.
