BIO4 Campus

The BIO4 Campus is Serbia’s flagship biotechnology and life sciences hub currently under development in Belgrade. Spanning nearly 20 hectares, this €450 million greenfield project aims to position Serbia as a leading center for innovation in four key areas: biomedicine, biotechnology, bioinformatics, and biodiversity .

Set to be completed by the end of 2026, the campus will host:

  • Nine scientific institutes and five faculties from the University of Belgrade, including the Faculties of Pharmacy, Biology, Agriculture, Medicine, and Technology and Metallurgy.
  • A Science and Technology Park to incubate biotech startups and house R&D centers of pharmaceutical and life science companies.
  • Over 1,000 PhDs, 1,400 researchers, 4,000 students, and 300+ laboratories, creating a vibrant ecosystem for research and innovation .

The project is backed by the Serbian government and financed in part by the Development Bank of the Council of Europe, ensuring adherence to high international standards . It has already attracted partnerships with global biotech and pharmaceutical companies, including Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Roche, MSD, SK bioscience, and Takeda.
