Healthgrouper as health services research and knowledge sharing project was initiated in 2011 in Macedonia. It was established to promote regional research activities on topics of similar interest for patients and health care providers in participating countries. The success and visibility of our research activities beyond the borders of Macedonia encouraged further development and in early 2013 it was transformed from project initiative to a Non-Governmental Organization for health and social policy research – Healthgrouper Summit. This transformation was important to secure long term sustainability as many donors require legal status of a non for profit research organization to raise funds for its activities.
