Description of the programme / policy

The Innovation Agenda is a key element in delivering the Innovation component of the
Economic and Investment Plan. The agenda and its action plan is built on 3 main pillars: Political, Thematic, and Regional. This Innovation Agenda is also a tool for evidence-based policy making.

Main objective of the programme/policy

Comprehensive, long-term strategy for cooperation with the region. Through increased investments in Research, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, the Western Balkans Agenda and its proposed actions will contribute to the region’s economic and societal development and cooperation.

Specific objective of the programme/policy

Political: Objectives e.g. to support the reforms in the region in the fields of Science and Research and in Education, Culture and Youth by implementing the acquis communautaire; Full Association to Horizon Europe. Regional: Objectives e.g. to increase investment in SMEs ; deepen Economic Union by linking the Western Balkan education and innovation activities and by bringing them closer to the EU ones. Thematic: Green Agenda; an economy that works for people.
