The DAAD supports higher education institutions in Germany by offering suitable programmes and initiatives to strengthen the ties of international alumni to German universities, research institutions and to Germany as a whole.
Main objective of the programme/policy
Aim of the programme
- Expanding the competencies of alumni on challenges of foreign cultural and educational policy (AKBP) through professional and methodological training
- Strengthening the alumni’s commitment in professional networks (regional and supra-regional)
- Strengthening alumni as multipliers for knowledge transfer
- Long-term commitment of alumni to Germany and strengthening of cooperation with German universities / research institutions and companies
- Acquisition of the expertise of German universities / research institutions in international cooperation and the ACBP
Specific objective of the programme/policy
The programme aims to extend the skills of alumni, enabling them to resolve challenges in foreign cultural and educational policy. It helps alumni engage with each other in academic networks both in their own country and internationally. At the same time, alumni are expected to play an active role as disseminators for knowledge transfer. Ideally, they maintain long-term ties to Germany and cooperate with universities / research institutions and companies in Germany.
In addition, the programme aims to further strengthen the expertise of the host universities / research institutions in Germany in matters of international cooperation.
