The Global Programme “Shaping development-oriented migration” (MEG) assists partner countries in leveraging the benefits of regular migration and engaging diaspora for sustainable development.
Main objective of the programme/policy
The countries cooperating with the project are implementing a range of goals for safe, orderly and regular migration as defined under the GCM, and they also use the engagement of the diaspora in Germany to achieve these goals.
Specific objective of the programme/policy
The MEG contributes to the following objectives: (i) Supporting partner countries in shaping their migration policies based on the GCM and in contributing their best practice and recommendations to international or regional forums; (ii) enhancing the protection of migrant rights; (iii) promoting policy coherence, gender equality and cooperation with civil society; (iv) promoting investment, knowledge exchange and innovation in partner countries by supporting the developmentoriented engagement of the diaspora in Germany; (v) strengthening partnerships with multilateral and international organisations.
