The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) is an independent body of the European Union, working to drive innovation across Europe by bringing together leading businesses, education institutions, and research organisations.
Founded in 2008, the EIT supports the development of dynamic, cross-border partnerships known as Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs). These communities focus on key societal challenges — from health and climate to digitalisation, food, culture, and sustainable energy — turning ideas into products, startups, and training opportunities.
As part of the Horizon Europe programme, the EIT is a key pillar in strengthening Europe’s capacity to innovate, equipping people with entrepreneurial skills, and boosting Europe’s competitiveness.
