Resource for Artificial Intelligence Science in Europe (RAISE)

Resource for Artificial Intelligence Science in Europe (RAISE) is a new European initiative designed to strengthen the use of advanced AI across scientific disciplines. Introduced as part of the European Commission’s Strategy for AI in Science, RAISE acts as a coordinated platform that brings together computing infrastructure, datasets, software tools, training programmes, and expert support. Its purpose is to make high-quality AI resources available to researchers in all EU and associated countries, reducing fragmentation and helping institutions that lack large domestic capacity.

RAISE operates as a virtual, Europe-wide institute, linking universities, research organisations, supercomputing centres, and AI hubs. Through this network, scientists can access high-performance computing, emerging AI resources such as the AI Factories, specialised algorithms, and data environments tailored to scientific research. The initiative also supports skills development, promotes interdisciplinary collaboration between AI specialists and domain researchers, and encourages responsible and trustworthy AI practices in science. In essence, RAISE is intended to provide the infrastructure, expertise, and coordination needed to accelerate AI-driven discovery across Europe.
