The Artificial Intelligence (AI) theme of the Info Hub provides information about the accelerating role of digital technologies. Artificial intelligence is increasingly central to this transformation. It is reshaping economic structures and public services. Enlargement countries are progressively aligning with the European digital agenda, recognising AI as a strategic domain for enhancing competitiveness, fostering inclusion, and supporting convergence with the EU. The region is advancing digital and AI strategies, strengthening research and innovation capacities and participating in European programmes such as Horizon Europe, the Digital Europe Programme and related COST Actions. Supported by comparatively strong ICT sectors and a skilled workforce, the region demonstrates growing potential to contribute to and benefit from Europe’s broader AI ecosystem.
Within this evolving landscape, EU policy instruments – such as the Reform and Growth Facility and the Digital Europe Programme -provide important opportunities to accelerate digital transformation and AI implementation. The Info Hub supports this process by disseminating relevant knowledge, fostering dialogue among stakeholders and highlighting initiatives that position AI as a tool for innovation, regional integration and inclusive growth. Specific initiatives are also launched in relation to the use of AI in research and innovation.
