The BIO4AI Hackathon at BelBi 2026 takes place 9-10 June 2026 at Metropol Palace Hotel, Belgrade, Serbia.
It aims to solve the main question: How can bioinformatics and AI be most effectively integrated into biodiversity, biotechnology, and biomedicine?
This new student team challenge invites pre-formed teams of 4-5 students or early-stage researchers to apply with a project, idea, dataset, prototype, or scientific question they want to advance through bioinformatics and/or AI.
Teams compete across three tracks:
– Biodiversity
– Biotechnology
– Biomedicine
Throughout the hackathon, participants are supported by mentors with expertise in AI and bioinformatics, who help teams refine the scientific and technical direction of their work. Given that teams will have 4 hours of active development time as well as another 4 hours the next day to present and award the BIO4AI Hackathon 2026 teams, the goal is not to build a fully developed product, but to create a strong concept, prototype, workflow, or early demo that clearly shows how bioinformatics and/or AI can create value in the life sciences.
