Digital Europe: Deployment of Cutting-edge Multi-modal AI-based Solutions in Medical Imaging

The call aims to accelerate the deployment of advanced AI-driven medical imaging solutions in oncology. Its main purpose is to fund projects that develop, validate and implement multi-modal AI-based tools, combining medical imaging (e.g. radiology) with other health data (such as genomics, real-world data, lab results), for improved cancer detection, diagnosis, and treatment.

Key objectives include:

  • Supporting the adoption and clinical deployment of EU-developed AI tools in healthcare settings.
  • Conducting multi-centre validation studies to generate real-world evidence for clinical utility and cost effectiveness.
  • Enhancing and expanding the data infrastructure underpinning cancer imaging in Europe, building on the existing Cancer Image Europe platform to ensure data quality, interoperability, and compliance with the European Health Data Space standards.
  • Upskilling medical imaging personnel and healthcare professionals to use the new AI-based solutions effectively.

The call was officially opened on 4 November 2025 and will remain open for submissions until 3 March 2026. The total call budget is approximately €14.4 million.
