Digital Europe: Second Call for Innovation Studies for the Development of Generative AI Models

The call supports large-scale research and innovation (R&I) projects aimed at developing, customising, and demonstrating generative AI models using European high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure, including pre-exascale or exascale resources.

Key Objectives

  • Enable organisations, especially SMEs and start-ups, to build and scale generative-AI solutions by providing access to cutting-edge compute power.
  • Strengthen Europe’s technological sovereignty in AI by supporting the development of “Made-in-Europe” generative AI models.
  • Promote innovation and competitiveness across sectors by encouraging AI-driven applications, data-driven products, services and research.

Target of the Call

  • SMEs, start-ups, and other organisations (including research institutions) with AI and HPC expertise who are ready to develop or scale generative-AI solutions.
  • Consortia or single applicants capable of leveraging large-scale European HPC resources to build and test AI at scale.
