The Science and Technology Park of Montenegro is organizing a two-part training on the implementation of circular economy principles in Montenegro. The first part of the training will be held from November 18 to 20, 2024, while the second part will take place from December 10 to 13, 2024, in the “MVP” conference hall of the Science and Technology Park of Montenegro in Podgorica.
The training is intended for researchers from public and private universities in Montenegro, decision-makers, and representatives from the business sector (company representatives, business associations, cluster associations, etc.). The Science and Technology Park of Montenegro is organizing this training as part of the project “R&I POLICY making, implementation ANd Support in the WEsteRn BalkanS,” abbreviated as POLICY ANSWERS, which is funded by the European Union through the Horizon Europe research and innovation program.
Main Objective of the Training
This training aims to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of circular economy (CE) concepts and practices through a series of workshops and practical sessions, supporting the development of concrete solutions at the level of companies, industries, and the overall economy of Montenegro. Participants will gain knowledge on key circular economy concepts, strategic frameworks for transitioning to a circular economy, and the role of technology, education, market, and regulatory measures in creating a conducive environment for CE development, implementation of circular practices in product manufacturing and usage, as well as their application in economic practice. Special focus will be placed on developing financial models, adopting best practices from the EU, and exploring the challenges and opportunities posed by Montenegro’s transition to a circular economy.
Through practical tasks, individual and group work, and consultations with expert, participants will work on developing tailored solutions that may include:
- Circular business plans,
- Assessments of company readiness for circular transition,
- Strategy development for moving toward a circular economy,
- Circular product design using life cycle analysis (LCA),
- Development of action plans, financing mechanisms, and regulatory measures,
- Project proposals that support the transition to a circular economy.
Accordingly, the ultimate outcome of the training will be the development of solutions that enhance circularity at the company level, as well as those that support the transition to a circular economy for participants from the public and non-governmental sectors. These solutions, along with the acquired knowledge and skills for applying circular economy principles, will provide participants with a solid foundation for their further professional work and development.
Additionally, participants from Montenegro will benefit not only from gaining insights into best practices for transitioning to a circular economy but also from networking opportunities with potential partners within the country.
