The University of Prishtina has launched the ThREAD project, “Technology Harnessing Real-time Embroidery and AI Design”, an initiative that connects traditional craftsmanship with modern technology and artificial intelligence.
The project is co-funded by the European Union’s Creative Europe programme and brings together partners from the Western Balkans. It is coordinated by the University of Prishtina and implemented in partnership with the University of Tirana and “Ss. Cyril and Methodius” University in Skopje.
ThREAD aims to foster co-creation, experimentation and interdisciplinary innovation. The project will explore new links between AI-driven design methods and the region’s artisanal heritage, creating opportunities for collaboration between cultural, creative and technological actors.
Through the project, the partners aim to support sustainable cultural and creative development in the Western Balkans and contribute to wider European dialogue on digital creativity, cultural heritage and innovation.
The University of Prishtina, together with its regional university partners, was awarded the project in December 2025. ThREAD will be directed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eliot Bytyçi in cooperation with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zanita Halimi.
