University of Prishtina to Establish Kosovo*’s National Competence Centre for High-Performance Computing

The University of Prishtina has won the EUROCC project, enabling Kosovo* to establish a National Competence Centre for High-Performance Computing (HPC). The achievement, secured in December 2025, places Kosovo* among the European economies participating in the European network of HPC competence centres.

High-performance computing uses powerful computers or networks of servers to process large amounts of data and solve complex problems. It supports research, innovation and industry by making advanced computing resources and expertise more accessible.
Coordinated by the University of Stuttgart, EUROCC brings together 107 partners from across Europe, including the University of Prishtina and the Kosovo Research and Education Network (KREN). The project has received a positive evaluation from the European Union and will run for three years under the leadership of Prof. Eliot Bytyçi of the University of Prishtina.

Working with KREN, the project aims to help Kosovo’s small and medium-sized enterprises and industrial sector access advisory support, develop expertise, and use national and European high-performance computing resources.
