The Danube Rectors’ Conference is a network of 65 universities in the Danube Region. The DRC improves higher education in teaching and research in this region, particularly advancing member universities by establishing and facilitating bilateral and multilateral contacts between universities, as concluded at the Brijuni Conference. The DRC pursues the following activities:
- Coordinating the ideas and actions of its members through the exchange of information on issues of common interest.
- Promoting cooperation on issues of common interest, thereby contributing to the stability and development of an open and democratic society in Europe.
- Acting as a consultant by presenting its views and making appropriate recommendations on problems concerning universities to government, national or international organizations, and others involved with university-related issues.
To perform these tasks, the DRC maintains links with national and international organizations whose activities are of interest or relate to universities, particularly with national Rectors’ Conferences, EUA, UNESCO, the EU, the Council of Europe, etc.
