Peja Hosts 2024 Edition of Gender, Economics, and Politics Summer School

The 2024 Gender, Economics, and Politics Summer School recently took place in Peja, Kosovo*, bringing together approximately 30 students from diverse backgrounds. This annual event aims to deepen participants’ understanding of the intersection between economics, politics, and gender, with a focus on exploring the unique challenges and opportunities for women in these fields.

Throughout the program, participants engaged in discussions with experts and public officials from both central and local levels, exploring ways to harness the potential of women in shaping economic and political landscapes. Organized by the National Democratic Institute (NDI) in collaboration with the Agency for Gender Equality, and supported by USAID Kosovo and the Embassy of Switzerland in Kosovo, this initiative sought to enhance participants’ knowledge of women’s roles in the national economy, the valuation of unpaid labor, the gender pay gap, and the impact of women’s participation in the informal labor market.

The summer school featured insightful presentations from panelists representing both local and international universities, providing participants with a broad perspective on the issues at hand. This program is part of ongoing efforts to empower women and promote gender equality in Kosovo’s economic and political spheres.
