The training is intended for producers and farmers from rural areas of Montenegro, young people who wish to start their own business in this field, as well as representatives from the ICT sector who can contribute innovative solutions to improve agricultural practices.

The Science and Technology Park of Montenegro is organising this training as part of the project “R&I POLICY making, implementation AND Support in the Western Balkans”, abbreviated POLICY ANSWERS, which is funded by the European Union through the Horizon Europe research and innovation programme.

Main Goal of the Training

The main goal of the training is to provide participants who wish to engage in sustainable agriculture in rural areas of Montenegro with knowledge on starting their own business, preparing business plans, and applying for support from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management. The training will cover the principles and values of sustainable agriculture, how to apply them, sustainability, economic viability, and ecological justification. Additionally, participants will be familiarised with the entire process – from acquiring agricultural raw materials (seeds, fertilisers, protective agents, etc.) to selling the final product. Part of the workshop will be dedicated to presenting innovative solutions to interested participants in the field of food production and the protection of natural resources during the production cycle, with the aim of identifying potential solutions and improving their business operations.

This training also aims to connect young producers and farmers from rural areas of Montenegro with research institutions and representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management.

Furthermore, participants from Montenegro will benefit not only from gaining knowledge on sustainable agriculture and the food value chain but also from the opportunity to network with potential partners within the country.
