UNIDO reaffirmed its commitment to industrial transformation and regional integration in the Western Balkans by introducing two new regional projects covering Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia. Supported by Slovenia, the Slovene Enterprise Fund, and Cyprus, these initiatives focus on green and digital transformation, equipping industries with essential skills and tools.
With a longstanding presence in the region, UNIDO aligns its efforts with national development priorities and EU integration goals. Its partnership model, which fosters private sector engagement and investment, is now expanding with new EU development partners.
One project aims to strengthen supply chain resilience, enhance quality infrastructure, and support SMEs in meeting EU manufacturing standards in the automotive industry. The second builds on Serbia’s Smart Manufacturing Innovation Centre, transforming it into a regional hub for digital innovation, policy harmonisation, and technological connectivity with the EU.
By fostering innovation, enhancing SME competitiveness, and promoting regional cooperation, UNIDO continues to drive sustainable industrial development in the Western Balkans.
